In my recent trip to New York City, I stayed at the W Hotel in Times Square, which was intentionally so I could take some 4K timelapses. Of course, I didn’t bring all my timelapse gear unfortunately as New York City was in the middle of my trip to Spain. Most of the shots I took with my Canon 6D and Tokina 11-16mm lens (set at 16mm) along with my trusty Gorillpod Focus, Manfrotto Tripod, and even my Edelkrone Slider for sliding shots.
I shot all the timelapse in RAW and used Photomatix for HDR processing along with Adobe After Effects for processing the timelapses, then Adobe Premiere CC for final video. It took me about a whole day to take shoot the photos, about a day and half to render all the photos into timelapses, and another day to make it into a finaly video. I know, it’s such a short video but 4K timelapses do take much longer than regular 4K videos. In the end, I am happy with my efforts, it’s not perfect in anyway and a work in progress but I will keep doing more timelapses in the future as time allows.
